Good Bye Pugh

Today, my grandma Pugh passed away. I sure did love that lady. Its been a long time coming and not to sound insensitive or anything, I'm glad she finally did. She was old, like 92 I think and she had a great life but near the end she just seemed to be in pain and ready to go and I'm glad the Lord finally let her come home. I'm glad that she'll finally get to see Mike again and I'm glad that she'll finally get to see Grampy because I know she missed him. I have so many memories from my childhood and visiting her house. I did a previous blog on my what would be last visit to her house in Marshall about all the fun that me an Dustin used to have there. I used to cry every time we had to leave her house. She was always so sweet and loving towards us and the best cook I've ever known. She sewed me Halloween costumes. She stayed with me and Dustin when Emily was born and when my parents went on  their cruise. She would yell at Mike when he would tease me about running out of gas in his truck. She would brush my hair every night after my bath because I loved it so much. She would say that my hair looked like pulling taffy as she combed out all my tangles. And even though I was a fat kid, she would always encourage me to eat and say "well you've hardly eaten anything, you eat like a bird" always made me feel good about myself while I scarfed down my 3rd helping of her mac and cheese.

(this is a picture of us at her house at Christmas in matching rompers that she had made. Man I loved me a good romper in the early 90s.)

Since I was the first grandchild, I decided on her name. They tried to get me to call her Grandma Pugh but in typical lazy Lauren fashion I shortened it to just Pugh. Its only weird when I talk to people about her "you call your grandma by your last name?" but it always seemed normal to me otherwise.  She would make us laugh when she would get so frustrated with my dad for being impertinent just to get to her. She always said that she hoped one day when he was old like her, he would have a kid that would give him a hard time like he did to her. Don't worry Pugh, I got you covered, consider it done.

(at Emily's baptism with Pugh and Oma)

Pugh used to have old fashion poles in her back yard that one would use to string up laundry to dry. One time as kids I was swinging on one and I completely bent it and snapped it off to the ground. Between me being a fairly hefty kid and the poles being rusted and from 1902 it wasn't that big of a surprise that it broke. I will always remember Dustin running in as fast as he could to tell on me to Pugh and me being scared, I just felt so bad. However, it was Dustin who got in trouble for being a tattle tale. Pugh just came out to make sure I was ok she didn't care that I had broke her pole (ha ha Dustin)

Pugh with teeny tiny baby Emily on her visit to Marshall

Pugh was the epitome of a grandma. I'm sure she was a wonderful mother to her sons but to me I always felt like Pugh was put on this earth to be a grandma and what a damn fine one she was.
It hurts my heart that my son will never know her or remember her but trust me he will hear the stories of all the good times and good food we had in Marshall.  I am so glad that she got to meet him at least once before she died. The Lord works in mysterious ways and he had my husband get this job in Aiken so that we would drive through Marshall and get to visit her one last time, I just know it and I am eternally grateful for that.

So this morning when I found she had passed on, I cried and I looked up and said a prayer. I told her to say hi to grampy and Mike for me and I thanked God for letting me have her as my grandma for as long as he did.

I will miss you Pugh. Thank you for all the memories and good times and please make sure to look down on us from time to time to see how Ty is growing and to see how all of us are doing. We all love you very much but you're finally home now.

I was editing my pictures that I took today of Ty in the gardens and this one stuck out immediately. Made me smile because I do believe Pugh is in it saying good bye and telling Ty she will always be watching over him.
(right?! doesn't it look like a ray of light from heaven?)

Time Again For Phone Pictures

The wrapping paper scheme that I went with this year. I usually do black and white and red but I was feeling a bit more festive this year and went with traditional colors. Oh also I should note that this is the first year I've bought gift tags. I always do it ghetto style with a piece of folded over wrapping paper but these were on sale at Hobby Lobby for $1 so I decided to splurge.

Sorry these pictures are all out of order but whatever. Here's a cute light display I saw before leaving Texas. Gotta love that Texas Pride.

This was the day we were flying back to SC. Ty picked up the phone and said "dada. Airplane. vrrrooom." I thought it was so cute and smart!

Trying on uncie doug's ray bans.

Ty loves walking around in Home Depot (it must make his dad so proud!) He especially loves the janitor supply aisle.

What kind of phone pic blog would this be without a funny picture of one of our dogs. Oh I should note, Paris kept these glasses on way longer then Ty ever has or would.

Ty at his first christmas pageant at the local baptist church. He lasted thru about 45 min of it. It was cute but super cheesy. You gotta love a small town, they're so out of touch with trends and the world outside of Aiken.

These are the same beads that little baby Ty would pull off the tree everyday last year and he does again this year too, its so funny he loves those beads. PS thats not an Obama shirt like my husband always says it is, its a breast cancer awareness shirt (just to clear up any confusion)

He is finally smiling again for them camera when I ask him to.   Love it!!

Santa pants diapers I found at Target. So cute!!

Before mom's night out last night. Got home at 10pm, baby was still awake. I did like my outfit though my top was actually purchased for a dress about a year before I got pregnant and I had never worn it. I paired it with jeggings and red bow high heels.

This morning's walk. I took this stroller because it matched Ty's outfit. No, really.

My Christmas List

I honestly don't really want presents this year and I have no desire whatsoever to buy presents for anyone else, well except for Ty. He is the only person I ever want to buy anything for and he doesn't even know what Christmas is or what's going on. He does know and can say Santa (poor thing death grips my arm anytime we pass one now since I keep trying to get a good picture of him on Santas lap) he also says Ho Ho Ho anytime we see Santa which is so cute. But anyway I had a couple of things that I wanted this year so I figured I would put them on here in case anyone is looking for some ideas...

Give the Gift of Warmth
Starbucks gift card. I'm sure everyone knows how much I love starbucks and I can never have enough gift cards. Anytime Ty sees a cup from Starbucks he says "mama's" haha drink starbucks much?

A gift card to www.mpix.com
Lord knows I take a lot of pictures, a lot, like obsessive amounts of them. however I never print them out and I really want to. I love this site because they have the best quality prints out there and I need high quality printers because of my fancy camera I use.

Frames and Photo Albums
I desperately need to frame and display pictures of my child. The only thing we currently have hanging on our walls is a framed, signed Roy Williams Texas jersey and while yes I do love it and I still love Roy Williams I feel I need to include some pictures of our family. Any sized frames will work and all different styles too.
Hopefully with all the prints I will be printing out soon, I will need an album to put them all in (i actually have about 500 prints already just sitting in a box that need a home too) again any kind of album will work just make sure it holds a lot of pictures and its not tacky/cheesy.

The always coveted Estee Lauder Makeup kit. I use this thing all year long. I love it and I must have it every year. I used the blush and eye shadow this morning in fact.

Time Reset
Any of the Redken Time Reset products. Its good for controlling those stupid wiry gray hairs which I've had since I was 23 (thanks dad) and I keep getting more everyday. Shampoo and conditioner would be greatly appreciated.

IT'S A 10 - MIRACLE LEAVE IN CONDITIONER Conditioner
Its a 10 hair product

And if you're feeling really generous I am dying for these Tory Burch flats.

Oh and I just wanted to add these 2 things that I must get for Ty for Christmas that aren't toys and he could care less about I just love them though.

I found this shirt in Ty's shirt and I think  its so funny.

and these, they're just like mama's

Some Faves

Here are some of my favorite pictures from Thanksgiving that Mark took, too bad Patrick is never in Austin Mark could have done our family pictures for free. I will start with my most favorite and one that a lot of people liked on facebook
Ty gives real kisses now and I think its the absolute most sweetest thing ever. He won't give his dad kisses though just me and the dogs (you can imagine how much grumpy old Paris loves that)
Anywhoo here are the rest

Its Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

"For me, that year Christmas stopped being about tinsel and wrapping paper and started being about memory. At first I was disappointed. Until I learned that memory is a way of holding on to the things you love, the things you are, the things you wish to never lose. And I learned in a world that changes too fast, the best we can do is wish each other Merry Christmas. "
