Good Night Irene

Currently as I type this I am holding a very sleepy and very sick little guy. I had to take Ty to the doctor today for the first time ever (well for an illness of course he's been for all his shots) He has a nasty stomach virus that woke him and I up last night with vomitorium everywhere. It was nasty. He's also running a 100 degree fever and had the chills (the chills are what scared me into going to the dr I had no idea why he was shaking and of course immediately thought the worst) anyway we went first thing this morning and while in the waiting room he projectile vomited all over the place. It was gross and embarrassing. But the nice ladies there didn't make a big deal about it and calmly cleaned it up but I felt so bad. Anyway its weird seeing Ty like this since he's never been sick before. He got some anti vomit medicine and should be all better by tomorrow. So I thought I would use this time to get caught up on some picture posting. These were taken at my favorite place in Austin, Town Lake. We took the dogs so they could run and swim with all the other hippie dogs in town and as usual a great time was had by all. The first picture in the series is one of my new favorite shots. When I was doing a little editing in Lightroom, I accidentally turned the picture on its side a little and couldn't figure out how to get it back normal but it ended up turning out really cool so I left it and now it looks like I'm a professional photog, right?  So here's the words to another one of the songs I sing Ty every night, its one of my favorites and he has loved since he was tiny. I remember playing it over and over again when we were driving home from his one month checkup and shots, you know back in the day when Ty screamed every time we went anywhere in the car.

Foxes sleep in the forest

Lions sleep in their den

Goats sleep on the mountain side

And piggies sleep in pins.

Irene good night, Irene good night

Good night Irene, Good night Irene

I'll see you in my dreams.

The whale sleeps in the ocean

Zebras sleep on the land

Hippos sleep by the riverside

And camels sleep on sand.

Irene good night, Irene good night.

Good night Irene, Good night Irene

I'll see you in my dreams.

Good night Irene, Good night Irene. I'll see you in my dreams.

Get well soon little man! Oh and dear Lord, please don't let me catch it, I DO NOT want a stomach virus.

Project 366- Week 18

April 29- May 5

April 29- Just taking a bath. I love his cute little cheesy smile here. I've figured out that if I use a flash, he will smile for the camera. I guess he needs that indicator to know a picture is being taken.

April 30- This was from the morning that we went shopping, showed up too early and the phrase "oh balls" was learned.I let him play for a while outside while we waited on the store to open.

May 1- For some reason Ty loves going to HEB now to grocery shop which is weird because he's always hated it (he even stays in the cart the whole time now.) I finally figured out its because HEB has this game called "HEBuddy" where the cashier gives him "Buddy Bucks" which he gets to put in this spinning wheel game to win points to save up to use on crap like a 200 point frisbee or ugly lunchbox. He doesn't care about the prizes he likes putting the "money" in and pushing the button to make the wheel stop spinning. Today, he stopped it on the 50 point slot which is huge because it never happens. Big money, no whammies.

May 2- Me with a cute headband that I found that belongs to Emily. Also got a huge bolt in my tire (again) so I had my dad and Ty change my tire out so I could get the injured tire patched. Ty took that tire iron straight to the lug nuts and immediately tried to get them loosened, the kid remembers everything.

May 3- I'm sure you know of my unnatural love for and obsession with Solo cups. Really, I love them. Here I figured out a super cute way to use them for Ty's birthday party (not really but wouldn't that be funny?)

May 4- Just hanging out on his trike rocking the wife beater shirt. He's getting good at pedaling and would be so much better if he had any interest in actually riding the trike, he's much more into pushing it and chasing my dogs and/or sister with it.

May 5- Dinco de Mayo. Had a fun day partying with the Hoss family. He's really taken to beating up and picking on her poor fat baby. Hoss thinks its because Elliot tries too hard to be Ty's friend which makes him come off as desperate I think its because he has the bully fat people gene that he inherited from me. After all, mine and hoss's friendship started because I put a sign on her back stating how fat she was and to laugh at her (I know, horrible but I was a bully I've come to terms with it and I do feel bad)

Isn't he so cute in his pool wear? he did not like his arm floats I got him for this year (he hated the float we used last year too) and I'm beginning to think he just doesn't like the water or swimming which may make me rethink his swim lessons I was signing him up for in June.  Not liking the pool though is going to make for a long hot summer though.

Countdown Is On...

Its almost Ty's 2nd birthday. On Monday I will have 2 weeks until my baby is 2 and even less then that until his party. I think I've mentioned before that I'm having a pretty hard time coming to terms with my baby turning 2. How did it happen so fast? I know its inevitable and there's nothing I can do to stop it but anytime I think about it I just want to cry, kind of like when I was turning 30 and every birthday for me here on out.  I finally started buying things and full on planning for the party. I think maybe I was putting all the planning off for as long as I could because I didn't want the day to come but now that its in full swing, I'm so excited because I love planing parties. I'm doing a photo project for one of the decorations (I don't want to give too much away) so I've been going through all Ty's old pictures which is sad and makes me want to have another baby so I have one that small again. Anyway I came across this picture and its funny because me and my sister were just talking about it. It is a picture of the 1st and last time Patrick dressed Ty. I was gone that morning for something and I came home to this. High waisted blue sweatpants with a longhorn onesie and black socks. I don't even know how he came up with outfit and I'm fairly certain that even as a 2 year old Ty would be able to dress himself better.

I'm not a big curse word person, I prefer insults like dingus and dillweed and of course my favorite idiot (said like Dwight Schrute). When I get mad or something bad happens I either tell "Crap!" or "Balls!" That's actually my favorite one, I say "oh balls" a lot. I assume you can guess where I'm going with this but anyway the other day we were going to a store to get Ty a swimsuit and when we pulled up I realized we were too early and the store wasn't open yet so I said "oh balls." Well my clever little child heard me and immediately started repeating it. He said it over and over again as we waited in the car for the store to open but he soon stopped and I didn't hear him say it anymore. Phew crisis adverted. That was until he was playing in the yard a few days later and he knocked the lid to his sandbox over and I heard it "Oh Balls!" Nice.

These are just some pictures of him from when I took him to a jumpy place. He wanted nothing to do with any of the bounce houses so we sat and ate his $10 cheetos and capri sun  and then went home ($10 because I had to pay $8 for him to play and he wouldn't)

Oh and he did get new Baby Js. We went to the mall while Patrick was home and they both got new pairs of Jordans. Patrick never wants anything to do with Ty's clothes and shoes except when it comes to him having Jordans so while yes they are expensive for kids shoes, I let him spurge once a year on a pair.

And here is Ty's new backyard pool. I got it at Target on sale this week. He liked it the first day he had it but I haven't seen him near it since. I'm thinking I will put my swimsuit on and sit my fatass in it and he might be tempted to come in.

This is the aforementioned swimsuit that we went to buy but were too early. I think its really cute and a little bit gay and I love it. Obviously it won't be the only suit I will buy him (I got 2 that day anyway) but it is my favorite so far and I can't wait to take him to the neighborhood pool. Circle C has 2 now, a new one opened this year and it has a huge kids section with splash pad and slides galore.

How cute is he here? We had to go down to UT campus to help Emily with some financial aid issues so I knew he had to be cute and in Toms so he wouldn't irritate UT students. Every student we passed said something about how cute he was. A sorrority girl passed and said "he's got to be the cutest little thing I've ever seen" and of course true to his politician like nature Ty pointed then waved to every person we passed. On the elevator a male student said "oh wow little dude I love your shoes, you're so cool" and that my friends is when you know you have a cute kid, when college guys compliment them on their cuteness.

Walking on campus.

And the party supply buying has begun. This year I remembered to go to the Dollar Tree (everything is a dollar!!) and I got so many things crossed off my list. My parties only look expensive but really they're quite reasonable. Plus I make most of everything myself anyway and this year since my dad is an artist, I'm getting him to paint me a couple of things. I can't wait!! The colors are red, yellow and black with some white thrown in.

As far as presents, I just found out my uncle (Ty's great uncle) got Ty the thing I wanted most for him on his birthday list (and the most expensive) a leap pad which is like a little ipad for kids that I can buy reading and math games for, I'm so excited about that.

Also kind of excited for the new bed Ty gets
a race car bed! I got his in black though (much more sleek) and we even got him a Tempurpedic mattress for it too. Oh and here's the bedding

and while yes I am usually totally opposed to anything "character" themed he loves cars and hates sleeping so anything to get him to sleep through the night in his own bed I am up for trying. However this isn't the typical tacky and so cheap the material sticks to the dry skin on your feet character bedding set, its a super nice quilt in pretty colors that match his bed. As for sheets I went for some 1200 thread count plain white ones just in case I ever have to lay in it I'm a total sheet/bedding snob so really when it came to all this, I spared no expense. Plus I just want to sleep through the night, just once, I mean its been over 2 years now when is it going to end?!? Ha he's worth it though, I don't really mind.

Bun Bun 2012 AKA Ty's 1st Race

So on Sunday, Ty and I finally got to run in our big race that we had been training for. Ty did the Kids 1K and I did the 5K and I'm not going to lie, we both did awesome. Ty was by far the youngest kid participating and he ran it better then most of them. It was like he knew what he was doing. He wasn't freaked out by the big crowds or how loud it was and he quite enjoyed dancing to all of the music they had playing beforehand.
Patrick flew out at 5:45 that morning so he wasn't able to attend and I really wish he could have, he would have been so proud of our boy. I had to drag Ty out of bed at 6:30am because his race started at 7:45 and I wasn't sure where to park or how long it would take so we left early.

And much to my surprise and delight both of my parents came. They both wanted to see Ty run and they weren't disappointed. These pictures were before the race on our way to the site. We passed by a crane and Ty was so excited.

Ty and Grampy by the Scholtsky's van

Here's me and Ty posing with the stupid characters. Its just what you have to do once you have a kid  (or if you're drunk)

Hydrating before the starting horn.

And we're off. You see that stupid kid behind him? Crying while his dad dragged him along. Please, Ty ran past him quick because he was annoying!

I am still just in awe of how well Ty did! He is such an athlete and so mature. I seriously forget he's still not even 2 yet.

Now don't get me wrong, I love all of these pictures but I can't help but look at them and be disappointed in my body. I have worked so hard lately and I still have a total mom body. I have skinny legs, skinny arms but a big belly, wide hips and a huge butt. Clearly I'm in great shape but having a baby just totally  changed my body shape.

See how much fun he's having? Now this isn't really his first "race" because when he was 6 months we entered him in the crawling derby which he won his bracket but placed 2nd overall for. I have that race bib still too and I plan on framing both of them in a shadow box display.

As usual, Ty was the star of the show and everyone there (even other parents) could not get over how cute he was. I wonder how old kids are when people stop thinking they're cute and stop giving compliments. It was a tad annoying at first but I've grown so used to it I don't know what I'm going to do when strangers stop telling me how cute he is.

One time during the race, Lady Gaga came on and Ty just stopped to dance.

Then when he started running past all these people who were cheering him on, he really got a taste for it. He would stop at each one that was shouting for him and jump. Then he would move on to the next one and do a jump for them too. Totally showing off and trying to garner more applause.

After Ty's race, he refueled on the free Hey Cupcakes they were giving out. We all know how this child feels about cupcakes

Then it was my turn for the race. This was the last stretch and I was running hard, I got my stride. As I crossed the finish line I had run so hard that I almost threw up, now that is something that has never happened to me before. I ran 3.2 miles in 27:05, the fastest I have ever run in my life. Thats just under 9 minute miles and frankly kind of amazing.

And as soon as I walked back around to where my adoring fans were, Ty ran over to me and said "hi mama!" and hugged me like I had been gone for years. I LOVE this kid so much it hurts. He is so freaking sweet and loving and thinks I hung the moon. Still no terrible 2's yet he's just a really good kid and he's got that super sweet and considerate side like his dad.

So anyway that was our race. I am so glad my parents came to cheer us on and take pictures (they turned out so well) I can't wait to run our next race together!
Oh and in case you were wondering (and because I want to look back one day and see)
I placed 480th out of 1234 participants (both men and women) so not too shabby. In my age division of 30-34 year olds (gross I can't believe I'm this old already) I placed 42nd out of 117 so again better then over half.  I love to run!
