week 2 in ATX

disclaimer** I typed this entire post on my cellphone so there are a ton of typos because its hard to type on this stupid thing.

we visited the austin nature center. Here are a couple of pics of Ty looking at the birds of prey.  He walked everywhere on his own an did such a good job. The kid never gets tired nd wants to be held.

after the nature center we went for a quick cool down at the water fountain. I'm going to miss this place when we leave. I hae my fngers crossed they having something similar to it in aiken, sc.

Grammy got out the slip n slide that she bought Ty last summer at the 75% off toy sale at Target. I remember that day when we bought it, Ty was so tiny and young and we were literally running thru the aisles of Target throwing toys in the buggy trying hto get out before Ty got upset. Ty used to HATE shopping as a baby  he does much better these days.

at symphony square attending the free childrens concert. Ty actualy sat sompletely still and watched the singer. There were a couple of times when he started to kind of glaze over which confirmed my suspicions  that he in fact would fall asleep at a Raffi concert.

free balloon and a fre popsicle, what more could a boy ask for.

picture of the thermometer that i sent to my husband so he would quit complaining about the heat in Indiana (where hes working for a few weeks) its probably the same temp outsde there as it is i.side here (the top number is the inside temp)

playing at a new bouncy castle place.  we met Hoss and her family to play. it wasn't particularly fun but it wore him out so it did its job. plus it was free and air conditioned.

and finally while waiting for me to find something in my storage unit, ty discovered a new love for an old toy. How sad was I when I saw he couldn't fit in it anymore. i swear we were just putting it together for him!

More Phone Pictures

I don't have my fancy camera and oh how I miss it so. Especially since I've been in Austin and have been doing super fun stuff where great pictures could have been taken. So needless to say I have been taking a lot more phone pictures lately so here they are...

Walking the dogs down at Town Lake. Ty loves walking them now (he got a taste for it with little Sam). Luckily my dogs, even though they're big, are actually quite good at walking slowly with him and not pulling him over. However it has become quite annoying though because all he ever wants to do is walk them, no matter where we are walking the dogs is always funner.

Here we are at that splash pad/ fountain thing.

The girls were lucky enough to get to come today to the fountain. Payton braved walking out there but ran off quick as soon as she was sprayed up the butt with a fountain. Hehehe

At the Austin Children's museum where Ty had the best time. My only complaints were that it was way too crowded (we went on a Saturday afternoon hello!) and there was no bar. Why are there never bars at the childrens places. If you ask me, those are the places that need them most.

Just a cute picture I took of Ty on my bed at parents house after he got dressed.

Ty's nightly sherbert ice cream cone. The boy loves him some orange sherbert.

We went back to the fountains again today actually and they were shut off for maintenance. Boo!

So we went over to the splash pad around the corner at Pease Park. Last time we came by here it was shut off. That time Ty was dressed appropriately in a swimsuit and swim shoes. Today since we hadn't planned on coming here he looked like the PWT kid whos mom couldn't afford a bathing suit.

And not only does he not have a bathing suit on like every other kid here, the bottom of his one piece romper isn't buttoned so it looks like hes got on a dress.

But as you can see, Ty the toy taker, couldn't care less about how he looked and had a dang good time.

And this picture I found online and I laugh so hard I cry every time I see it. It totally reminds me of something my mom would have tried to make when we were kids and how they would have turned out.

The Dewildes Visit Southern Pines

Patrick's parents came and visited us our last week in North Carolina. We had such a nice time with them and here's why, they took Ty everyday and entertained him for hours and hours at the park or the pool or Walmart and I got to hang out at home, alone just sitting and relaxing. Then they'd bring him back and take us out to eat. A very successful visit.  They brought their little dog Sam and Ty LOVED her. He was seriously drunk with power when we would let him walk her because he was so much bigger then her (unlike our dogs) and  he was in control of someone for once. The last day they were here though I didn't see Sam because Betty said she had jumped off the bed and landed wrong and was limping. I suspect she was just covering up for Ty because he really beat the hell out of that poor dog. He would wake up every morning and the first thing he would say was "Sam?"

Hoss Party

A few weeks ago before we came back to Austin, I suggested to my BFF Hoss that she should throw me a "Welcome Back to Austin Lauren" BBQ. Little did I know that she would throw an all out party with a gigantic water slide. (Ok so it was a combo welcome back and happy birthday Addy party but still). It was so much fun!! We stayed for like 5 hours and ate and slid and swinged and Ty was so good. There were several moms there who said they wished that their kids had been as chill and laid back as Ty. One said "he just goes with the flow huh?" That he does. What a good boy. Seems like all we've done since we've been home is swim and play in water. Its actually all you can do when its this freaking hot outside!
That huge slide in the pictures? I did make Ty go down it.. We went down together but still I was very impressed with how calm and collected Ty  was when we went down. That slide was steep!!
We're just having the best summer!

Splash Pad Fun

Today we took Ty to the coolest place! Last week at Zilker Park we saw my old friend (or my friend Stevie's wife) and she told me about this super fun fountain that kids were allowed to play in. It was a ground fountain that would shoot up in the air in synchronized patterns and it totally reminded me of the water fountains at the Bellagio in Vegas. Anyway as son as we got there, without any apprehension whatsoever Ty ran straight in and stuck his face in one of the water streams. He LOVED it! This child absolutely loves the water and that makes me so happy. I'm not a huge fan of water and swimming but I also didn't want one of those wussy kids who is scared of water. Anyway here he is running and jumping and loving the free fountain like a black kid in the 60s.
