Ty's 1st Haircut

Yep he got a haircut today. Now it wasn't abnormally long or anything just long enough in the back to irritate me.  It was starting to curl out and look like a duck tail so it needed a good trim. Here he is right before the cut...

He sat perfectly still. The stylist said she had never had a baby sit so still before for a hair cut. Of course he had he entire place watching him the whole time and when he was finished and we were walking out, he got a standing ovation. Yes I am serious. Then he turned and waved to everyone. I'm telling you this boy knows how to work a crowd. Its so amazing to me that someone so young can be so charismatic and all around likable. Everyone loves him I am in awe and have already learned so much about how to be a better person from my 11 month old!
Here are the after shots. I requested the product put in his hair for the mohawk. Too freaking cute.

Ty is 11 Months

Ok just a week late but regardless of its tardiness, here is Ty's 11 month update. His birthday party is this weekend and I have been working diligently on that and neglecting the blog.
The past month has been huge as far as changes go. I swear he grew up more this past month then he did the previous 10 of his life!

You are officially a walker. You walk around everywhere now. I got you your very first pair of shoes. After paying the $50 for them I vowed right then and there that you would only ever have 1 pair of shoes at a time. I then promptly purchased 2 more pairs at Target (well my mom bought one of them) and ordered you your first pair of cowboy boots.
You now have 4 teeth! 2 on top and 2 on bottom. After 10 months of that adorable gummy smile and 2 brutal weeks of teething you've got some chompers.

Now with these new teeth comes the whole "I'm a big boy now" attitude. You no longer will eat anything that resembles baby food and you won't eat anything I put in your mouth, you have to feed yourself or you're not eating it. You're still a good eater though and will eat just about anything I put in front of you.
You said your first real words (aside from mom, dada, hi and ball you know the usuals) you said fan and vacuum. Both of which you are totally and completely obsessed with. You've always loved the vacuum ever since you were a newborn, it would always put you to sleep if I ran it.

You started at a new gym that is gymnastics based and can do a somersault and hang on the uneven bars and as posted previously the only kid in the class who can.
You could seriously live outside. You love it!! Grammy will take you out as soon as she gets home from work and yall stay out there until suppertime. She got you a water table so you play with that a lot. The poor little white boy finally has a tan so you don't look so British. We never saw the sun in Kentucky and I was quite scared you might get rickets, crisis averted. Thanks Texas sun and horrible drought conditions.

I know I write about this alot but it seems to have picked up recently (and I think its because he has a tan) but people are absolutely in love with you. At Target the other day, and I am not exaggerating, I got 20 compliments from people about how cute you are. I guess it helps that you have the most sweetest smile ever and you're the sweetest kid ever and you wave at everyone. Seriously there is yet a kid that I've met that rivals you in both cuteness and intelligence and I swear I'm not being biased because I'm your mom. Why the only other baby that I know of that was like you was, well, me.

You are so mature. Your gym teacher said that you've already got the greatest personality. You're an entertainer and enjoy making others laugh. I hear so often from everyone that "he's such a little man" again just like your mama, born grown up. I recently found out that a group of people I went to high school with had a discussion about you in a bar. About how much they loved looking at your pictures and loved the way you dresses and that you were the cutest baby born to a Bowie grad.

So Ty, Happy 11 month birthday! You're almost a year old and I am already so proud of you I just don't see how you ever could do any wrong.

Easter Egg Hunt

Today was the big egg hunt at our church. We pulled up to a completely full parking lot, it was packed. We got Ty out of the car and quickly to the starting line for the Littles. Luckily we were able to sneak on the side next to another little baby and get some eggs in Ty's basket.

Right now Ty just learned how to throw so he throws everything, including easter eggs from his basket. The kid can throw too, here we come MLB.

After the eggs were all picked up and gone (and I swear this happened in a matter of seconds) we headed over to the petting zoo which was an unexpected and exciting treat. Ty has no fear of any animal. He went right up to the pony, the cow, the goats, the rooster and petted them. He loves animals! He was so excited to see them all. He walked around looking at and touching everything.

He had a big day and it was so much fun. Holidays are all so much more fun with a kid, I just can't express that enough! This is actually the last of Ty's "first holidays" his first easter. Happy First Easter Ty!!

They're Back

I got my computer back today and to my surprise all of my files were still on it! All my pictures and videos still in tact. I can't tell you how happy I am.

Here are some pictures from Ty's first babysitting gig. We watched my friend Hoss's son the other morning and can I just tell you that I was amazed and in awe of how well Ty did with around a baby, even when I was holding him. My friend in Kentucky's son would beat the poor little baby she babysat twice a week if she held the baby because he was so insanely jealous. Ty was fine with me holding the baby and even played with him and patted him on the head. This put to rest any fears I may have had about having another baby. Ty will probably even help me with the baby. He's going to be such a good big brother. I can't wait to see him with a brother or sister!

My Prayer for Ty (yes its supposed to be funny, not serious)

First, Lord: No tattoos. I was always told that people with tattoos don't get jobs. Appealing to my vanity always worked with me, please let it be the same way with my son.

Guide him , protect him
When crossing the street, stepping onto boats, swimming in the ocean, swimming in pools, walking near pools, stepping off of boats, using mall restrooms, getting on and off escalators (especially when pulling rolling luggage I'm still scared of this), driving on winding country roads, leaning on large windows, walking in parking lots, riding Ferris wheels, roller-coasters or anything called “Hell Drop,” “Tower of Torture,” or “TheDeath Spiral Rock ‘N Zero G Roll featuring Aerosmith,” and standing on any kind of balcony ever, anywhere, at any age.

When the Crystal Meth is offered one day, May he remember the parents who cut his grapes in half And stick with Beer

Lead him to an occupation where he can make his own hours but still feel intellectually fulfilled and get outside sometimes

Let him color and be interested in toys for much too long, for childhood is short and adulthood is long and being interested in girls or having his heart broken can wait. .

Oh and should he choose to be a father one day, be my eyes, Lord, that I may see him, lying on a blanket on the floor at 4:50 A.M., all-at-once exhausted, bored, and in love with the little creature whose poop is leaking up its back. “My mother did this for me once,” he will realize as he cleans feces off his baby’s neck.

“My mother did this for me.” And the delayed gratitude will wash over him as it does each generation and he will make a Mental Note to call me. And he will forget. But I’ll know, because I peeped it with Your God eyes.

Amen.

Ty=Smart

I just wanted to do an update real quick on a couple of new things that Ty does now that are so cute and so smart...
We read a big picture book every night and one of the pictures is of a baby in a diaper. I just realized that whenever we look at that picture, he grabs his diaper with both hands. So when you ask him "where's your diaper" he shows you.
When you ask him what a baby says he can imitate the sound of a crying newborn almost exactly
When you ask him what a firetruck says he can do the sound of a siren
When we play with his pretend phones he will pick it up and say something that sounds like the word hi and then dada (when we play I always pretend that his dad is on the phone for him)
He has finally started really throwing a ball. Overhanded and hard. Its only a matter of time before we can really start working on his pitching technique.

I got a lot ordered and bought this weekend for Ty's birthday party. I can't believe how much work it is! I'm making a lot of the stuff myself so its cheap but I get overwhelmed because I have so many good ideas. Since I still don't have my own computer and have none of my pictures to post here is a proof of Ty's invitation that I designed and had made today. Love it!!

And In an Instant, They Were Gone

This is a sad post with no pictures because today the thing that all moms fear, happened to me, my computer caught a virus, my hard drive crashed and all my pictures are gone. Luckily I have most of my pictures saved on an online site, thank the Lord, and I have a lot on here and in my email box but still I hadn't go around to uploading any of my march pictures so I lost those and all my recent videos that I took. I must get better at printing my pictures out. I am vowing right now that as of right now I am printing them out once a month. It hurts my heart to think about how many pictures I lost and will never get to see again. I made a resolution to keep up with my blog in the new year and I think I have done a pretty good job at that now I am resolving to print my pictures out.

Ok so here's one picture. I just saw it on my mom's computer for the first time and I love it. Mark took it with his new camera and its gorgeous. I am so excited that he's taking Ty's 1 year pictures for me next weekend.

Little Gym Pictures

As promised here are the pictures from Ty at Little Gym. He really seems to enjoy this place. During this visit he had the entire gym (and I am not exaggerating) around him in a circle listening and laughing at him making his funny motor boat sound that he does with his tounge. His teacher said she had never heard a baby roll his tounge like that. Maybe I should teach him spanish since he can roll his Rs so well. Also during the visit there was a little 2 year old girl who followed him around (ty and his girls) and her mom kept having to come and get her and take her to play somewhere else. The mom said to the little girl "can we please go work on another skill besides stalking?" Ha! Ty is such a chick magnet I am so in trouble when he's old enough to start dating!

Little Gym

Ty started at a new gym last Tuesday called The Little Gym. I was looking for something comparable to Gymboree that we could go to while we are here staying in Austin and let me just say I love Little Gym. They are so much more hardcore then Gymboree. They aren't nearly as babyish or gay. Ty did his first somersault! Ty is by far the youngest kid in his class, everyone else can walk and run (luckily Ty can walk well now so he will be able to keep up this week). They had the kids practice hanging on some uneven bars (this place is a real gynamstics place) and Ty was the only kid who held on and just hung there. I think it may be because he's so light but it could also be because I've always lifted him up by his arms or it could just be because I have a total athlete for a son. I don't have any pictures of him from Little Gym yet but I will soon. Until then here are some cute shots just to decorate the post. Oh yeah and before I forget, Ty is way more advanced than kids here too it wasn't just because we were in Kentucky. And all the moms here think he's cute too and as I've always said if you can get another mom to tell you that you have a cute kid then your kid really is cute.

Keeping Austin Weird

So I am finally getting around to posting this entry. It’s been sitting as a draft for 4 days now! Oh well better late then never. Anyway on Friday, my mom took off and we decided to have a totally “Austin day.”  We started by taking my dogs down to Town Lake to swim.

They had a great time and so did Ty. The day before he really had started to walk a lot and stand up completely by himself so he was able to cover a lot of ground at the park. Not sure why I put him in white, knowing there would be dirt, wet dogs and the eventually mud.

After we were done here we headed over to get lunch at the Trailer Park Eatery. A little area on 1st street comprised entirely of food trailers. I got a crepe which was seriously almost as good as the ones I lived on when I was in Paris and then I got a Chicago style hotdog at a delightfully clever named hotdog stand Man Bites Dog.

We took the dogs with us and didn’t get a second look. The great thing about Austin someone is always more weird then you no one gives you a second look when you show up to eating venues with 2 large dogs in tow. They were super well behaved though so I was happy.

Ty was really good too especially considering I could have flown to Chicago and back to get a hotdog there in the time it took for us to get our hotdogs. Seriously, it is official Ty is the best baby ever. Sweet, well behaved and patient smart and so cute I just can’t stand it.
