Poor Sick Baby

My poor baby is still sick! he has been sick since Wednesday and I feel so bad for him (and me, its hard taking care of a sick baby for that long). This evening after his last nap he finally started to show some signs that he might be getting better. He started talking again and he was playing with Payton. Here he is giving her a hug is this not the cutest thing you've ever seen?
I've got a story from today that just proves how smart my baby truly is. We have these round magnets on our fridge that hold up pictures. For some reason there was one on my bathroom floor (I'm assuming Ty took it up there at some point and dropped it). Well why I was going potty today and Ty was sitting on the floor, he picked it up and started to try and stick it to the bathroom door. He knew what he was supposed to do with a magnet. Then I asked Patrick if he ever lets Ty play with the magnets and apparently while I'm at the gym and they're making dinner Patrick has taught Ty about magnets and what to do with them. I just think that that is so smart of him!
Anyway, here's hoping the poor thing is back to himself tomorrow. Look at the pictures of him, you can totally tell how sick he is. He just looks sick.

Ty's 1st Birthday

Ok so I know I still have a ton of time before Ty's birthday but I LOVE planning parties and thought I'd share my ideas so far. I've decided to do a sock monkey theme mainly because I love the colors that come along with it turquoise and red and argyle so pretty.

Project 365- Week 6

Welcome to the Week 6 Wrap Up (almost a week late!) We were in Austin for half of this week and we had a great time except that both of us were sick for collectively the entire time we were there. Boo. Oh well at least it was warm and I had my mom.

February 14- Valentines Day. Since I already did the big collage of Ty's 1st Vday I thought I'd use this picture of us at the park with Payton in the background. It was still a little chilly but it was warmer then usual so we had to spend it outdoors.
February 15- Its the picture with Ty playing with his friend in his front yard. I love this picture because of Ty and Payton- a boy and his dog.
February 16- One of Ty's favorite things to do now is to unload everything. Here he's throwing all his diapers on the floor right before bed.
February 17- In Austin at my favorite restaurant Serranos.
February 18- After Ty's 9 month Dr Appointment we went over to Sarabeth's house and he got to play with Aubrey for a little while. She was super excited and brought Ty every one of her toys that she could find.
February 19- Oma and Opa came over to visit Ty and he even let Oma feed him (its rare he allows anyone but me feed him)
February 20- Here's Ty playing with all the "new" toys at Grammys house. He's wearing his new big boy 2 piece pajamas well the top piece anyway the pants fell off, they're too big. Of course.

9 Months Old

Happy 9 Month Birthday Ty! I didn't take the "official" picture today because I'm in Austin and a big part of the picture is in Kentucky so we will take the picture on Thursday when we're reunited with Payton. My friend Laura also took some pictures today too so I will post those as soon as she's done editing. I'm not sure how well they'll turn out though because Ty was in a foul mood and refused to smile but we'll see. Anyway here's what you're up to these days, at 9 months old Ty:

You are an incredibly loving an affectionate little boy. You give everyone hugs including but not limited to Kitty, the dogs, all the moms at gymboree and everyone in our family. You will also hug a baby if they're hurt and crying and you even add a little back pat in too. All the moms at Gymboree are so jealous that I have such a huggy baby and they wish so much their child was like you.

You've just recently started dancing at your play table when the music plays. Its hilarious.

You are so close to walking. The other day you stood for a whole minute by yourself. You cruise around on everything you can pull yourself up on and I can tell you're thinking about just letting go and taking off but then you sit and crawl to where you need to go.

You started using a straw this month and you've started showing interest in feeding yourself with a spoon.

You like to share your toys with mama (you still don't let daddy play with your stuff) and you are also sharing food with everyone including Paris and Payton. They really love you right now for that!

You give me kisses but only when I get home from the gym. You have this little frog toy that you like to hug and kiss and you gave the big clown, Gymbo, a kiss at the Valentines day party. Your kisses are just you opening your mouth and putting it on something but I know what you're doing.

You can say mama, dada, ball, hey and yay. You like to wave and say hey to strangers at Walmart.

I left you for the first time with someone else this past Sunday at the church nursery. You almost made it for the entire service but they had to page me to come get you when you wouldn't stop crying. Apparently mama was supposed to pack a snack and didn't so you got upset when all the other kids were eating and wouldn't share with you.

You're growing up so fast and you're just so smart and funny and cute and sweet and the absolute perfect baby. You're so sweet you make mama want to have lots of babies, as long as they all turn exactly like you.

Here's a funny comparison. While we were visiting Austin you saw your baby bounce seat and really wanted to get in it. Look how much you've grown!
Here are some pictures from your 9 month appointment. You weighed 17 pounds (5 percentile) you were 29.5 inches (80 percentile) and your head was in the 67 percentile. Dr Johnny said you were incredibly advanced and healthy and was so happy  that I haven't let you watch TV and that you love books!

I like this picture because when you're on a hard surface and you're wearing shorts you walk up on your feet as to not hurt your knees.

Here you are with Kitty. She's so sweet and lets you pinch her and pull her fur and she doesn't scratch you.

ATX

Well we made it to austin! Ty had 2 pretty good flights. The first one from Lexington to Dallas he slept most of it (thank goodness since its a 2 hour flight). The second flight was a bit rockier. We had to rush to our next flight so poor Ty had no down time between flights so that was no bueno. Then we had to climb over 2 men to get to our cramped window seat and it was hot. Ty had a meltdown. He started screaming so I figured I would try to feed him. Well since it was so hot Ty would not let me use my nursing cover to cover up so in order to stop the screaming I had to feed him totally in the open. Now remember the 2 men I mentioned I had to climb over? The one sitting right next to and right next to my child breastfeeding was a catholic priest. Yeah I'm not making this up. I was so embarrassed and he was making it so obvious that he wasn't looking and then he plugged his ears. Ty finally settled down before the plane took off and was fine the rest of the flight thank the good Lord (maybe the priest called in a favor). I thought I would mention that I only took books on the flight with me, no toys. The boy loves him some books.

When we got to my parent's house I immediately let Ty sit outside in the warm weather. He kicked his legs in the grass like he was so excited.

Then of course we swang in his favorite swing.

And this is what I saw hanging from a tree in my parents yard. Oh Austin, how I've missed you and all your hippies especially my brother.

What?!? Kentucky Has Nice Weather?

Of course as soon as I leave Kentucky for Austin, the weather decides to turn nice. The day before we left it got up to 68 degrees, no humidity, and a slight breeze. In a word, Perfect. So we went over to Ty's friend's (and I do suppose my friend too) house. She too has 2 dogs so I brought over my 2 dogs so everyone could play. We walked the trails by her house which went by a couple of horse farms and Elsy (my friend) was so impressed with how well behaved and what good walkers my dogs were. She is jealous of my baby, my dogs, my diaper bag and I'm fairly sure she would steal my stroller given the opportunity. It's so nice that people look up to me and admire me. So often do I look at other familys and women and long to have what they have and think that they have it better. So I do enjoy when someone can actually admit that they like what I have and look up to me (I know there are others who like to copy everything I do but they'll never admit they're jealous of me). Anyway we had a great day with the boys playing outside and the dogs all playing together.

World's Sweetest Baby

I am amazed at how sweet and compassionate Ty is. Today at gym he went to every single one of the moms and gave them a hug then patted their leg. Then he went over to his friend Lola who had just fallen and was crying and he hugged her then patted her on the head. All the moms in there freaked!! They could not believe how sweet such a young baby is and were all so jealous that their own weren't like that! I too cannot believe that he is like that consdiering how unaffectionate his father and I are. Patrick said he's trying to compensate for our lack of hugging because he feels the world needs more hugs. Uh oh do I have a hippy on my hands?!? I actually despise giving people hugs and only do it once a year- at chrsitmas time. One of the moms even commented on how he has great potential to be a dr and to make sure I put that in his baby book. I said "dang I was hoping for an athlete but I suppose I could deal with him being a dr :). "  Only 2 more days until we leave for austin!!

I only took one picture today (we were busy and I forgot) so here are a couple from last week that I liked and I don't think I shared with anyone.

Valentine's Day

So we had an excellent valentines day. It started off with patrick making me heart shaped pancakes before he went to work, isn't that sweet? Then after Ty's morning nap we went to walmart and got a balloon which was Ty's gift this year. I also got the girls some peanut butter for their gift. Then as a Vday treat for the dogs we went to their favorite park and I let payton swim and paris off leash for just a little while. Then we went home for lunch and a nap before heading off to gymboree for open gym. His friend Vincent was there and there were actually quite a few babies there today around Ty's age. Ty likes to run with the older kids and he really does pick on the ones younger. Today he took their balls away and even pushed one kid down, uh oh do I have a bully on my hands? I'm convinced he's not doing it maliciously he's just trying to play with them and they just happen to be sissys. He played for a long time and then an asian baby showed up and he and his friend vince would not leave her alone. They followed her everywhere and harassed her. It just cracks me up how obsessed he is with asian babies! So anyway happy valentines day to my big almost 9 month old hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!!

Project 365- Week 5

Wow its already week 5 of this project! Way to go Lauren for keeping up with it. Here are the pictures from this week

Happy Birthday to daddy! Patrick turned 35 today and I was able to snap a picture of Ty playing with the card Patrick's parents sent him then I posted it on facebook and made fun of his age.

Ty has started walking with his walker on his own. He has great control and can decide where he's going. Look at my dogs in the background and the fear in their eyes that the baby can walk.
Ty's first playgroup. We went over to his friend Vincent's house to play. The kid is 2 months old than Ty but barely at the same level as him. They have fun together and now I know why I don't make friends where we live, its going to be hard to say good bye to them I really like them!
Ty drinking out of a red solo cup. I swear he prefers drinking out of them just like me.
Ty's favorite toy by far now is a ball. I got this one for him at Target and he has been playing with it non stop ever since.
Ty's first Valentine's Day party held at Gymboree. It was such a cute party and he had a great time.
Patrick took this picture just as Ty was starting to drift off to sleep. I can't get over how pretty I look (I'm kidding) but Ty steals the show with his supreme cuteness so no one even notices my nastiness.

But I Can't Help Falling in Love With You

That used to be one of my favorite songs as a kid. I bought my first Elvis cd (or was it a tape?!?) just to have that song. Today they played that song at the end of Ty's valentines day party and as it played I totally teared up and the song had all new meaning. All of the sudden it was the greatest song ever written and I was determined it was not written about the love between a man and a woman but of the love of a mother for her son. We had such a great time today at our party! We accidentally got there an hour early so Ty and I went and had a grilled cheese sandwich lunch at Panera Bread to kill the time. I figured there was no way he'd make it thru the entire hour and a half party but he did and had a wonderful time doing so ( he did fall asleep seconds after I put him in his car seat though). So I am convinced that having a kid makes everything better, well except football season but that's just temporary. Ty has done the impossible and actually made me like valentines day! The party was just so cute! There were crafts and games and songs and Ty's favorite the parachute. He also got a balloon and let me tell you this child is obsessed with balloons I'm getting him some mylar ones from walmart on monday! Ty was of course the youngest baby there but he kept up nicely with the big kids he's just so mature for his age! Anyway we had such a fun day and I am so lucky to have such an awesome valentine this year and now every year. Sorry Patrick you're out, Ty's in.

Take my hand, take my whole life too but I can't help falling in love with you.

My Valentine

So I am torn, do I impose my severe hatred of valentines day on my son or let him decide on his own what a stupid "holiday" it is. We're going to a little vday party at gymboree tomorrow but I can't decide if I should get him a little gift or not to start a tradition. Maybe it would help me to like the holiday more?!? Today I made Ty a turkey burger patty and I put a slice of cheese on it. Patrick said oh what's the special occassion (I guess he was talking about the cheese) and I said well he's my valentine and then patrick said "good does that mean I don't have to do anything for you this year?" Um we've been married 2 years but together a total of 10 he has never done anything for me, ever. And not because he's mean but because I've asked him not to but anyway I was rather rude about it because he acted like he was so relieved to be off the hook this year since ty was my valentine. Whatever!

entry from my phone... cool

so this is my first post ever from my cell phone  seriously i  can officially do everything from my blackberry  now back to my original post

We went to gymboree today but I don't think ty was really feeling. He's been sick with a cold all week and I just don't think he's 100% back to himself just yet. I was not feeling it either I think I'm getting sick and thanks to ty being sick I only got 2 hours of sleep last night. These are the days when I question wanting to have another baby soon! We get to go to austin in one week from today and I am so excited! I looked and the forecasted high is 74 degrees. I am wearing flip flops if its warm enough or not this cold weather is starting to get to me and the dogs I think. I can only walk them a few minutes at a time it was 2 degrees this morning no one should be out in that weather ever! I am anxious to see where patricks next job is and where we'll spend the summer. I'm sure it will be somewhere with extreme heat but that will be ok jheat is better then bitter cold heat I understand, I get it, I can handle it.
Oh one quick funny thing that ty does all the time at gymboree-he does everything that the other moms are trying to get their own kids to do ie clap, wave climb up a big step I guess to show off. He's just so advanced and smart for his age it never ceases to amaze me! Also today one of the moms went on and on about how big his hands were. He gets that from his mama. I have huge hands and monkey long arms. Good for ty though should help him out in his athletic endeavors one day.

Joy of Love Assignment 8

What has your spouse (or loved one) given or promised to you (material or immaterial)?  Try to capture this “gift” from their heart.
Hmmmm something my spouse has given me or promised me...duh
Best gift I've ever gotten and the best gift I ever will.

Joy of Love Assignment 6 and 7

day 06′s theme is the ones they love.
I'm skipping day 7 because its supposed to be a picture of several generations and since I am in Kentucky I'm not really in the position to take pictures of several generations of my family.

06 the ones they love

Ty loves his toys specifically Sophie the Giraffe. He has loved her since he was tiny and I do believe she is loved (for some odd reason) by every single baby in the world. He has this little race track toy that spins and shoots out a winning race car when its done. Ty has started putting in all of his toys and watching them spin (he learned from watching his daddy do it) its quite hilarious. He also likes to stand up on it too not the safest thing in the world but he's a little boy who likes to take risks. Oh and I had to include his daddy because Ty certainly does love him.

On another note Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband and even better father Patrick today! He's 35 years old. Dang y'all he's old!

Project 365- Week 4

January 31- I've blogged previously about them but here they are in all their British Rocker glory, Ty's skinny jeans (which have actually turned into my absolute favorite jeans he has). The picture was taken at Gymboree (of course we live there!!).
February 1-This is one of Ty's favorite and oldest toy. My mom bought it for him before he could even sit up and he has always loved it but especially now. He plays with it forever. Its actually been hidden for a while though because it makes the most annoying sound.
February 2- Daddy pushing Ty around on his little car. They were chasing the dogs. Good times.
February 3- Patrick actually took this one. Ty loves eating the dog leashes and Patrick caught him hanging out under his high chair, gnawing on a leash.
February 4-Here's Ty hanging out in the back seat with his first friend Vincent. They're both chewing on a baby mum mum in their matching car seats. So cute!
February 5- Diaper Derby at the Babies R Us. At first I was mad that Patrick didn't film Ty winning his race then I thought "wait a minute, my husband is hanging out at a Babies R us with me while I race our child on a Saturday" He was quickly forgiven.
February 6- Super Bowl Sunday. Went to open gym and I love this picture because Ty looks like he is in jail. Lets hope its not foreshadowing...

Kentucky Diaper Derby

Just wanted to document Ty's first sports competition. He was in a crawling race on Saturday at Babies R Us and he did great. He won the first race of the day, totally smoked the other babies. He did advance to the Championship race but ended up losing to an oversized, hick baby named Levi. Ty was the youngest baby in the tournament so considering that he did awesome. Had he been huge and old like the baby who won the 3 months worth of diapers, he probably would have won too. I fear that I will be the mom that gets kicked out of childrens sporting events. I was already talking trash and accusing babies, yes babies, of cheating. Not sure whats wrong with me.

At least we got a gift card but I really didn't want any of the prizes I just wanted the win.
